Meetings with Speakers
2023 Calendar
All meetings begin at 1PM at the Wood Library in Canandaigua on the last Wednesday of each month.
Wood Library will videotape sessions and will upload them to their website. The PSGFL website will also upload the same for your review.

January 25, 1:00p.m.: "Name That Scam" will be presented by Justin McCabe and assistant, Shirley Levy. McCabe is the Fraud Protector Coordinator for Lifespan, with a background in Law Enforcement.
February 22: 1:00p.m.: “Parkinsons Disease and Mental Health: Strive to Care” will be presented by Tamasin Kekic from Equipose Occupational Therapy. In her main presentation, Kekic will discuss the nonpharmacological management of Parkinson's Disease. After a short break at 2 pm, Kekic will have recommendations for “falls prevention” for People with Parkinson's followed by "stress reduction suggestions" for Care Partners.
March 29, 1:00 p.m: Robin Barclay, Safe At Home Physical Therapy/Rock Steady Boxing: "Motor and Non-Motor Issues"
April 26, 1:00 p.m: Wendy Fambro, Life Span: “Benefits of Simple Tai Chi for Balance, Memory, Balance, Posture”
May 31, 1:00 p.m: We all like to be understood, but sometimes with Parkinson’s Disease our voice becomes too quiet or our pronunciation unclear. Also, if we fear swallowing may cause coughing or even choking, it is difficult to enjoy a meal or take medications.
Therefore, we are pleased to have as our speaker for the May 31, 2023 PSGFL meeting, Brittany Williams, a speech-language pathologist who treats primarily adults and geriatric populations, specifically specializing in neurological diagnoses, such as Parkinson’s, ALS, MS, stroke, and dementia.
June 28, 1:00 p.m.: Dr. Stu Gillim will facilitate a "Question and Answer" segment at our meeting since so many members asked for such an opportunity.
July 26, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., PSGFL Picnic, Outhouse Park Pavilion, Canandaigua, please bring your own lunches, beverages, table service and utensils (grills will not be lit).
August 30, 1:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m.: Cindy Priano, Office of the Aging: "Care Giver assistance"
September 27, 1:00 p.m.: Robin Barclay, Safe-At-Home, PT/Rock Steady Boxing (Specific details will follow.)
October 25, 1:00 p.m.: Jennifer Phillips, Music Therapist at Hochstein, "Music and Movement"
November 29, 1:00 p.m.: Dr. Stu Gillim, PD Update, research, meds, etc.
December 13, 11:00 a.m (Note, the date is the 2nd Wednesday of the month and the time is earlier than our usual meeting time.) : Holiday Luncheon instead of regular meeting- MORE INFO WILL BE FORTHCOMING LATER IN THE YEAR.
